Belize diving

Belize diving counts among the top ten diving spots in the world. Belize is located right by the second biggest barrier reef in the world. Belize's government and inhabitants care a lot about their ecosystem, ecotourism is successfully growing and well controlled. A destination with a great future.

Climate:
Average air temperature: 10°C (50°F) to 35°C (95°F)
Average water surface temperature: 26°C (79°F) to 29°C (84°F)
Coldest time: November to January
Warmest time: May to September
Possible to dive all year round
Best time to dive: Between November and May; June through September tends to be wet, the rain usually lasts shortly.
Visibility average: 10 to 100m. During the winter months cold fronts known as "northers" may reduce visibility for days at a time. But most of the time outside the reef the visibility is incredibly good.

Belize diving is worth it by liveaboard and land based operations!

Belize diving can offer high quality diving sites for students and beginners inside the reef. Advanced divers can visit world famous divesites like the blue hole visited by the Calypso and Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Also very famous are Ambergris Caye; Turneffe atol and Lighthouse reef! The region is definitely a must destination for divers. Although invaded by tourism Belizeans stay Belizean and continue to protect and care for their ecosystem and all this with a smile... keep it up guys!

Fauna and flora: Green turtles, lots of different reef fishes, nice soft and hard coral crustacee, baraccudas, whale sharks nurse sharks, bull sharks and much more.

If you go there don't forget the Maya historic sites like the Lamanai Temple.

I just wrote a few highligts but you can find more in the regional pages or in the dive centers and liveaboard websites.
