Default Re: Rescue Diver Course

The rescue course is important to be a safe diver good choice! What u need now is to do first your advanced open water course. How many dives do u have by now?

Thumbs up Re: Rescue Diver Course

No you cant proceed, you will need first to finish the Course prerequisites:
1- Advanced Open Water Certification,
2- Emergency First Responder Course.

Then you can proceed wth the rescue diver course which will cover:
Self-rescue and diver stress
Emergency management and equipment
Panicked diver response
In-water rescue breathing protocols
Egress (exits)
Dive accident scenarios

I hope this will help fulfill your questions.

Smile Re: Rescue Diver Course

Good morninig
I have been away and therefore I was not able to get on thjis forum for a while.
I have read through the Rescue Diver question and must say that most of the information are correct. As an Open Water Diver with the experience of 45 dives you should complete your Advanced Open Water Diver Course anbd then move up the ladder with EFR (Emergency First Response) and Rescue. The EFR course has to be completed before the second module of the Rescue Diver Course.
Your question about being able to start the Rescue Diver Course prior the Advanced Open Water Course completion, is possible. You can start the Rescue Diver Course straight after the succesful completion of the Open Water Diver Course. You can complete the Confined Water Training of the Rescue Diver Course, however you have to demonstrate all the Confined Water skills again in the Open Water including all the Scenarios and to complete this step you have to be a certified Advanced Open Water Diver.
In short: YES you can start the Rescue Diver Course as an Open Water Diver but you have to be an Advanced Open Water Diver to complete the whole Rescue Diver Program.
The thinking behind this is that it never to early to learn Rescue Skills for a diver.

I hope this helps.

I totally agree with DiveDevil, its never early to learn those skills, as you can walk through all the program any time, but as for the certification you have first to complete the prerequisites.

Cheers...

Wink Re: Rescue Diver Course

Have a great time. I am sure you will. It is a great course and you will learn a lot. Make sure you also ask the instructor for the brand new Emergency Oxygen Provider program.

All the best and always safe diving
