Definitely check with your local shop (or the shop at the hotel/ resort you'll be going to if you plan to get certified on vacation). Some shops won't accept online classes, others only work with certain certification agencies.

If you'd like to go with PADI, their online instruction program lets you search for dive shops around the world who should accept their online information although you still will want to call for pricing and to schedule your pool and open-water dives. You can learn more at https://www.padi.com/padi/elearning/

Hope this helps...

Smile Re: online diving training

If the dive centre is not offering the e-learning facility then you can not do this with this centre. You may choose another centre and sign up for the e-learning part and still do the practical part of the open water course with the dive centre of your choice. As the e-learning and the practical applications are strictly seperate, it does not matter with which dive centre you actually sign up for the knowledge development part.
The other option is that you contact the diving centre of your choice and actually make them aware that you wish to use them but they are not offering the e-learning facility. It might well be that they will be quick and get it set-up. They also may send you the training materials with study instructions. This is another way of completing the academic portion of the program, called independent studies.

I hope this helps
