Re: open water course in cold weather Learning to dive in warm and in cold water is a very safe activity when having the correct knowldege, equipment and most importantly a good and responsible diving instructor.
By completing your open water dives in cold water you will be very likely waering a drysuit, or a thick neoprene semi dry or wetsuit, providing you with ample thermol protection.
Speak to your instructor about the concerns you may have about the open water dives. You may also ask him to explain the refrral procedures for your course. This means that you complete the knowledge development and the pool training in England, but the open water dives in a warmer climate. You wil be given the relevant paperwork from your instructor explaing the receiving instructor where you are standing in your training, and complete any outstanding training segments in warm water. Please let me know if you wish to do a referral, and I am happy to explain where you can do that. :-)
I hope this iformation is helpful.
Always safe diving.
