Default Drinking and Diving...

so I've never done it, and the majority of the time I wouldn't dive with someone who's had more than a couple beers...

What is everyone's opinion/experience on this?

Hi Robert,

ok, as we know, most of the divers like to drink a beer or two after finishing their dive day, in this way their blood alcohol concentration will be 0% before they dive again the next day. But to drink between dives or until the early morning is definitely not recommended and endangers not only yourself but your buddy as well!

It’s a fact that the consumption of alcohol contributes directly to:
  • Impairment of physical performance, reaction time, concentration and judgment underwater
  • Higher risk of decompression disease - alcohol dehydrates the body, this has the effect of reducing the blood volume for circulation, which will cause a reduced gas elimination during the decompression phase of the dive
  • Symptoms of nitrogen narcosis occuring at depths less than 30 m

I hope this answers your question, have nice and safe dives
Barakuda

I don't see what's wrong with doing your dives in the morning and THEN boozing the rest of the day away...that always seems to work for my family

Diving is a very amazing experience and diving drunk is a bad idea, I’m a little afraid of the deep but I dive once in while with my friends and drink afterwards.

Thumbs down Re: Drinking and Diving...

Hi

my opinion:
drinking and diving is same stupid idea as drinking and driving!

my experiences:
I witnessed an accident caused by alcohol abuse during a liveaboard.
The guy ended up in the chamber and our trip was finished!
I can do without this kind of experiences!
