Post After the repeated diving accidents

I think that after what we have been hearing in the last months about the death of this diver and that diver, we should consider more the education for diving rescue and accident managment.
While i was surfing through the internet i found a subject that may benefit the objective what i mentioned above, its a course and its including most of the things the diver will need to be more safe.
here it is

Rescue Diver 1: SCUBA Lifesaving and Accident Management
Course Description

Rescue Diver 1 covers techniques for managing SCUBA emergencies and diving-related accidents. Participants will learn to recognize and avoid situations in which a SCUBA rescue may be needed, as well as techniques for dealing with the consequences of a SCUBA diving accident or injury when it occurs. Emphasis is placed on both individual rescue skills, as well as team-oriented exercises involving multiple victims and rescuers.

Learning Objectives

Participants will demonstrate an understanding of issues relating to the recognition and management of diving accidents and emergencies, including:
· Diving Illnesses
o Types and Causes
o Signs and Symptoms
o Treatment
· Diving Accidents
o Understanding Causes of Accidents
o Recognition and Assessment
o Responding to an Emergency
o Accident Avoidance
· Diving Emergencies
o Coordinating the Rescue Effort
o Search and Recovery
o Managing the Scene
· Handling Injured Divers
o Approaches and Stabilization
o Emergencies at the Surface
o Emergencies Underwater
o Egress and Evacuation

I agree with what you say,and i hyave gone through the course line ,really it should help a lot when all the divers have this course as a basic knowlege, not as an aditional one.
though it have been several diving accidents the last few months, its now clear that the diving knowlege and technology is going much better than before.
God Bless All the divers souls.

Unfortunately there are accidents and incidents happening all the time, and sometimes it can be really disturbing when reading an accident or incident report. There is many things we can do to ensure that our sport remains safe. The above outline is a very good way to promote diver safety.
The most important matters for preventing diving accidents and incidents is to teach comfortable and well trained divers. There is always the crunch between various training agencies, discussing which one is better and who is trainng better divers. Quite frankly it does not matter under which training association you are learing to dive. The important point is that you have an instructor which is taking his/her responsibilty seriously in teaching good divers at any level. I have seen very well trained divers from all the different training agencies, but also the contrary.
If you are learning to dive or want to take continuing education programs then take your time and look around before deciding with which dive school or instructor you go.

Always Safe Diving
