Hi Brand,
Welcome to this divers forum.
Divers are usually persons that look at the marine life without touching it so as not to disturb the ecosystem. There are many ways of observing, photographing the marine life without catching or feeding it. You are now a diver, my advice is buy an underwater housing for your camera and take pictures of the marine life in it's natural habitat. You will discover much more about all species and will have a lot of fun practice your new hobby (scuba diving).
I hope I did not offend you but if every one starts to do his own research the old way pioneers did it in the past we will not come to a green light to save our fragile world.

Thanks Brand for your kind reply,
I have observed a group of resident white tip lagoon sharks in Kenya by diving and diving again the same area. With the time I started to understand their behavior and shifting from place to place according to the tide and currents. Doing this it became possible to me to find them at every dive and approach them without disturbing them. When the tide was rising they used to hang in the current in a specific place. They were doing slow movements and could this way stay to a static place on the edge of the reef against the current. This way they could just open the mouths and let the current oxygenate them without effort. Once I could exactly take the same position and have similar movement, I was able to join the school and stayed in the middle without disturbing. The sharks were just 30 centimeters to one meters away from me. Sometimes Napoleon fishes, potato codes and other predators were joining and sharing this opportunity. It was amazing to see fishes sharing this place with their usual predators.
This is just a small part of what I could share with this group of sharks.
I wish you a lots of interesting dives and discoveries.
Cheers
Mako
