Default Re: Diving Fins

I prefer Aqualung Slingshot Fins , they are the most advanced fins in the market.

I use them now for a month and they are totally different than any fins i used before, go for Aqualung Slingshot Fins .

Cheers....

Wink Re: Diving Fins

Fins is something you want to choose carefully. A set of fins can be good for some divers, but not at all for others and vica versa. Fins come in a huge variety and the choice is endless. I will keep this response to the open foot fins which are worn with some diving boots or similar.
You need to ask your self what kind of diving you are going to do and if you just use the fins on holiday etc. In this case the weight of the fins might be an issue. You also need to know whether you dive in warm or in cold water or both, and what are the water conditions, such as currents etc. The fitness level might also be an issue as there is different hardness fins available. Using a fins which is too hard or too big might cause cramps, whiuch are very uncomfortable and painful.
I have a lot of collegues which are using different fins for different environments. This is a good thing to do, personally however I like a set of fins and then want to use them in any environment. I have two favourite sets of fins. I am using the MARES Avanti Quattro and the APOLLO Pro Splitfins. The Mares fins are usable in gentle water conditions and then have a soft feel and you do not get tired very quickly. Should you dive in water which has some curent this fins also do a marvelous job as they are made of different materials and provide softness when required as well as a push if needed. The Mares fins have also very good sized foot pocket. This means that I am able to use them with my neoprene booties in summer and also have no problem to use them with my drysuit boots in winter. Great fins and I would recommend them anytime to anybody.
The APOLLO fins are a different story. This is a set of split fins. This means the fin blade is split through the middle. Usually the splitfins are very easy to use and you dont even feel that you are wearing a set of fins, which might be a bit strange at the beginning. I had several split fins and never really liked them for various reasons. They either have not been performing well in currents because they were too soft, or I was not able to use them with various fins kicks. Since I have the APOLLO my attidude to split fins has changed. This is a great fin and it performs very well in all environments. I can also use this fin with my drysuit which is a bonus. The best thing is that they have not a normal fin strap but a bolted on spring which makes it so easy to but the fins on and off, and the strap never breaks. The only disadvantage with the Apollo is that they are very heavy.

Have a look around and speak to divers and professionals and I am sure you will find the right pair of fins. The choice is yours!!!! ;-)

Have fun and happy diving
