Default What reg do I need?

Hi evryone,

I would like you suggestions on what Reg I should be buying...!!

- I'm now open water certified and would like to get advenced next summer
- Now I only dive in the warm water during trip in the south but would like to start diving more in Canadian water.. much colder and maybe later under ice...
- I do around 20 to 30 dives a year
- budget around 800 to 1200$
- After my advance I would love to get shipwreck, nitrox and deep certification
- Maybe I'll buy a wireless dive computer later and maybe a Dry....

I would like to get a good reg that would safely follow me for couple of year !

I was suggested the new Aqualung titan LX 2012 or Apeks XTX200

What do I need?

Thanks

Hi Marc,

in my point of view both of the two regulators you were suggested to use are technically very good and have nearly the same features.
But if you intend to dive in cold water in the future, you should go for a cold water resistant reg. The Aqualung Titan LX is not cold water resistant, only the LX Supreme is suitable for it (I don't know the model Aqualung titan LX 2012, you mentioned). An advandtage of the titan reg is the light weight and the acd (auto closure device) system, which keeps water out of the first stage,... and the price.
The Apex XTX 200 is cold water resistant as well and has an inhalation adjustment feature in the second stage, but it's more expensive.
Ok, everbody has his preferences, I personally would opt for Apex if I would have the budget. My old XTX 100 never failed until now, and I dive a lot!
However you decide, have in mind, that every reg needs a regular maintenance and service to keep it reliable!

Wish you nice and safe dives!

Terry
