Default Basic Equipment Recomendations

Hi everyone! I swear I did a search and couldnt find an answer to this: Im starting scuba back up since a looooooong pause. Im trying to purchase the basics, mask, snorkel, fins, weightbelt/weights, boots and gloves. Trouble is, its been so long and dont know whats what anymore. The company im training with has some good packages for "Scuba Pro" equipment, but I wouldnt mind paying a little more for better than average equipment. But certainly not pro. Any recomendations for a noob? What brands and what equipment seems to work very well and resilient? Any online resources for purchasing? I feel like Sean Connery in "The Rock" when I go to the sports store. All this stuff is all digital and blue glowing dials and stuff. "In my day, we did it all with fins and a snorkel" !!!

Wink Re: Basic Dquipment Recomendations

Ya time has moved on, and it certainly did not stop at scuba diving. I agree with you that we have had a lot of changes in the equipment sector of scuba diving, and fashion did not stop either and has truly entered the scuba diving industry, which is great and has brought some colours to us too.

Scubapro equipment is one of the best equipment manufacturers available, and the word "PRO" in its name does not mean that it is only for the Professional. This is very good equipment you can rely on, and it will last forever.

There is a few brands available. I intend to work mostly with MARES and Scubapro, for the recreational side of diving.
Go and have a look online what is available, and what you need. This depends on where you are diving etc. when you got an idea, then go and visit a dive shop. These guys will be able to explain to you what is what and for what you can us it for. Many times you will also be able to try the kit as well. i always prefer to get to a shop and purchase my equipment, because for those reasons.

Happy buying and all the best.

Always safe diving
