Default Apollo pro c vs Scubapro twin jet

I'm looking at these two brands of fins, the Scubapro Twin Jet max w/spring strap or the Apollo bio fin pro XTC series silver. From what I can tell, it looks like the biggest difference is weight, the scubapro positively buoyant and the apollo, negatively buoyant. Is one more powerful than the other in a strong current?

Currently, I have been using Mares Avanti (they're like 14 yrs old), and I love them. But, during a recent trip to Belize, I was getting a lot of ankle cramps. This occurred generally when there was a stronger current. I thought getting something w/a bit more flexibility might help??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Christine

Wink Re: Apollo pro c vs Scubapro twin jet

Both fins are very good, and I have used both of them. Personally I prefer the Apollo due to the fact that they are bit heavier and also a bit more rigid, which makes the fin a really good all-rounder. I am surprised that you are getting cramps with a fin which is 14 years old. I personally have been using the MARES Avanti Quattro for years, and must say that it is one of the most durable fins ever. The cramps may have nothing to do with your equipment. This might be coming from not being hydrated enough, or by pulling the fins strap to tight which will ultimately result in a cramp due to restriction of blood flow etc. Try to loosen the strap a bit, which should do the trick. If you want to buy a new fins I would suggest the Apollo :-)

Have Fun and always safe diving.
