Wink Re: Diving jacket maintaining advice!!!

Diving Equipment needs to be looked after, whether you are diving in fresh, saltor pool water. After the dive thoroughly rinse the BCD and make sure you rinse the inflator and the dump valves very well. Make sure that there is no water left in the jacket when you are hanging it up to dry. To do that just shake it and you will hear and feel if there is water inside. Ever so often you should also rinse the BCD on the inside. Press the deflation button, this opens the valve. Take a hose and let water run inside the BCD. Dont fill the jacket up, just a bit of water. Then orally inflate the BCD, shake the BCD, and rinse the inside with the fresh water. Turn the the BCD upside down and make sure the deflator is the lowest part of the BCD. Then press the deflation button again and all the water is coming out. When all the water is out, partially inflate the BCD and hang it in a dry and shady place to dry.

Looking after your diving equipment will ensure that you will have a lot of fun dives with this piece of kit. It might be a good idea to get some information on a program called "Equipment Sepcialty Course". You will learn a lot about looking after your equipment and completing basic equipment maintenance.

All the best

There is no real difference with the maintenance and cleaning of the BCD's. You have to clean and wash them even when you have been diving in a lake. Obviously in a lake you dont have any saltwater. Saltwater is much more agressive than freshwater. But you still have to wash your BCD even hen diving ina lake or a freshwaterpool.
I hope this helps
