Rep Power: 0 | | Re: Greece diving and Cyprus diving, any idea!! Greece & Cyprus, both in the Eatern Med. Very nice places. The Med is a great place to dive and offers fantastic conditions. The temperature is between 15 and 29 degrees C. Visibility up to 30 metres plus. There is not a lot of tidal movements making this sort of diving very easy. There are also a few fantastic wrecks in the area, including the wreck of the Zenobia. This wreck is 1.5 miles of the coat of Larnaca in Cyprus. It is a RORO ferry which sank in 1980. What a great dive. All the trucks etc are still on board, making this dive very memroable.
I can send you some pitucres if you want. Send me a private message with the email address on, you want to get the pics.
Hope that helps

Rep Power: 0 | | Re: Greece diving and Cyprus diving, any idea!! Hi there,
I dived in Cyprus in May of this year. The Zenobia wreck is fantastic!! I also took a day trip to Latchi - a little island with loads of aquatic life and makes you think you are diving in meadows!!
A great dive centre that I can highly reccommend is 'Divepoint'. they are only a small one shop centre, based in Paphos. You can do a google search for their web site. Beware though, I've heard stories of some very shoddy dive centres in cyprus, with less than adequate kit hire, so make sure you shop around!!!
If you need somewhere clean, cheap and good value to stay in paphos, I highly reccommend the Damon apartments. I couldn't fault it, and in walking distance to the dive centre, beach, pub etc.
Diving isn't cheap though!! mainly due to the Euro being so strong against the pound!! you may not have that dificulty!!
Have fun!!

Rep Power: 0 | | Re: Greece diving and Cyprus diving, any idea!! Ya Cyprus is a great place to dive and in particular the Zenobia. I am glad you had a good time and enjoyed yourself. I do understand what you mean about the strong Euro though. It is not the best exchange rate for the pound sterling at the moment. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Re: Greece diving and Cyprus diving, any idea!! Tell me about it!! It was costing near enough £50 per dive!!! Going to Thailand next in the hope of some cheaper dives!!
Zenobia was fab though!! I went with an instructor I know who lives over in Cyprus and he knew all the small bizarre routes through it!! The viz was amazing the day I dived it, The carpet and wallpaper in a corridor by the canteen made it feel like I was diving through my lounge!! And what was with that lorry still chained half way up the wall???? I had to question whether it was me that was upside down!! lol
A great dive- can't wait to do it again!!! - Maybe when the pound manages to be worth something again!!! |

I am stopping in Phuket though!! a little out the way of Krabi!! - but less choppy boat rides that time of year compared to coming out of Krabi!! - So i'm told ( I'm not a Thailand expert). |
