Default Do sharks have friends?

Hi,

Can you imagine, that sharks have friends?
Sharks are usually considered to be lone hunters without any company of other sharks, just getting together for reproduction.
Now researchers found out, that in fact there are sharks that form groups with social nature!

Hi all,

Yes, very interesting!
This is the second time I read about this topic, obviously not only the Blacktips in Moorea, but also Lemon sharks at Bimini show this social interacting. This is documented in an article of the Reef Quest Centre for Shark Research:
Estuaries: Lemon Shark

I assume, there is a lot more for us to learn about those fascinating predators.

G'day, Barakuda!

Thanx for the interesting read!
I couldn't even imagine that sharks could make sort of communities with other sharks! I thought, that they only tolerate the shark sucker fish!

Best to you!

Sharks really are amazing creatures, so much to learn. Perhaps David Attenborough should a piece on this. I don't recall hearing this anywhere else before
