Best diving destinations

I am planning a trip to this area of Africa next Jan10. Can you tell me where you stayed and which dive center you used. What about Lamu Island? How is the crime and anything I should be aware of? thanks

Lamu is a nice and quiet place where the time stopped... Lucky you, great destination. The place should be safe. What I would avoid is trips on the road going into the interior of the country. You are near the Somali boarder and lot's of gangsters are crossing the boarder to enter Kenya over there! These people are extremely violent. Avoid road travel in this area. Kenyans are peaceful you will feel safe and have fun in Lamu.

Diving in Kenya is great. Lamu is very nice, but also very quite. Not too much to do, but then you are staying in a remote location in Eastern Africa. I have lived there for many years and dived a lot of various places. I prefer the Watamu area. As well very nice and quite, but a few things to do. The diving is awesome in both places. Take your pick, and you will have a great time wherever you go in Kenya. The Kenyans are very nice people, just keep off the places Mako mentioned.
