I have friends who say it CAN be quite amazing. Personally, I can let you know in 3 weeks or so. I leave for Sipadan on the 8th.

Diving Sipadan is great for diving but also for snorkeling:

Vortex-like formation of Barracudas
Big-eye trevallies
1000s of silver jack fishes
Bumphead parrot fishes
Napoleon fish
Many reef sharks (white tips).
Numerous turtles and the occasional mantas, hammerhead sharks, whale sharks, etc.

And you will be based on Mabul or Kapalai which is great for muck diving and critter stuff.

You should book in advance your permits: only 120 divers per day are allowed in.
