We are trying to decide where to dive this year. It needs to be someplace relatively close since we only have a week available. I'm thinking Hawaii, Mexico or the Caribbean. We dove the Caribbean a lot during 1994-2004 but have only been to Grand Cayman in recent years. Our main concern is good diving with lots of fish and a healthy environment. Big stuff is always a plus!
I've been reading articles lately and keep finding bad news....Bonaire's corals are beat up, all of the fish in Hawaii have been sold to aquariums, 50% of Caymans reef are dead......am I just picking up on the bad stuff or is it hard to find a good place these days?
Will we notice a big difference in the Caribbean from 10 years ago no matter where we go?
I don't mean to sound like "Debbie Downer" and hope you guys have some good news.
