Diving centers in Warner Beach arrange trips to other coastal destinations like Aliwal Shoal and Durban. Aliwal Shoal is a beautiful sandy reef about 5km off shore. It offers several dive sites that are famous for a wide variety of marine life. Lots of different species of sharks visit Aliwal Shoal all year round including ragged-tooth sharks, blacktips and hammerheads.

The short distance to Durban, the largest city in KwaZulu Natal province makes it possible to visit some of its major dive sites like Outer Anchorage and Blood Reef. They are popular dive sites for advanced divers and home to many kinds of sharks. It is best dived during winter months. In Durban wreck lovers can get the chance to visit some wrecks, like The Fontaya and The T-Barge which are two popular dives here. The Fontaya was sunk to form an artificial reef in the 1970th by ORI (Oceanographic Research Institute). It's occupied by lots of fish that attract bigger predators. The wreck lies at a max. depth of 89 feet (27 metres).
The T-Barge was also sunk by the ORI and it's not an ordinary wreck, it has three cranes on the deck. You will be surprised by the enormous numbers of fish that inhabit this wreck. The T-Barge is at a depth of about 88 (27 metres). Please be aware that these wrecks are recommended for advanced divers only.

Although it is a laid-back town by the seaside, Warner Beach has the advantage of being close to nice diving areas that can be visited during daily outings and also it's conveniently close to the airport of Durban. There is nice accommodation offered here. For those who would also like to try wind surfing the conditions here are excellent.
